With The Masters now starting, it really does feel like the start of a new golf season. I'm sure everyone is as excited as me to get out on our splendid course and start playing again! To help you make the most of this season at the club, we have prepared an extensive diary of events for you to take advantage of.
I'm delighted to report that many have been fully booked so far, including our club MOT day, Titleist and Callaway fitting days and my 'Improve your putting' night.
Our seniors outing to Forfar has over 40 players booked in, however, the more the merrier at these days, so please book up in the Pro Shop. Further details below.
To add another edge to our diary of events, Dr Bobby Robertson and myself would like to challenge our members to a monthly Captain & Pro vs members challenge match over nine holes. We will be looking to take on a pair of members at least once a month on a Thursday evening, starting at around 6.15pm. The format will be better ball and the stakes to be decided on the night!
If anyone is looking at a really simple and cost effective lesson package to get your season underway, then please look at my two lessons for £50 deal. It really is a very simple way to improve your golf. We have already had our first success with the lessons and handicap reduction of the season by a past captain in the April medal.
Some of our members have already got their season off to a flyer, including John McHugh, who won the Seniors 1st Round club championship qualifying on Tuesday with a cracking nett 63! Alison Grant won the SLGA April medal with an equally impressive nett 72. A great comeback after a long time out with injury. Finally, our gents April medal was won by Tom Aberdein with a magnificent nett 62 from a 14 handicap that is no more! Please see full results below.
Spring Coaching Offer
I'd like to bring you a great way to Improve your golf - guaranteed! A bold statement - Yes, however I believe with two half hour lessons I can definitely move your game forward in a very simple and timely manner.
How?
Lesson one
Rather than try to change too much in your swing we will work hard on getting your pre swing position (set up) to match up better with how your swing operates. With a good understanding of this simple way to improve, you will be on your way very quickly to better results.
Lesson two
Will simply be there to reinforce the first session and push you on a little if you have already made the necessary changes.
What you need to do - simply take two 30 minute lessons, roughly 3-4 weeks apart with a small amount of practice in between.
Cost - £50 (save £10 on normal price). Lessons must be completed by 31st May. Lessons to be taken 3-4 weeks apart. This offer is valid until 15th April.

Golf Phycology Evening with Dr John Mathers
- 18th June book in now at the Pro Shop - £12 per ticket
As little prelude to our Golf Phycology evening taking place on the 18th June at 7pm, I wanted to highlight an area of importance in this field as I see it.
The Practice vs Play mind sets!
Many people don't differentiate between how they operate mentally on the course with what they do when they practice. This I believe is one of the biggest areas holding people's performance levels back. I strongly believe that you must operate in practice in a left side of the brain mode I.e being analytical, thinking about what you are physically doing and making repetitions of the same movement again and again to in grain a new technique or skill.
However the opposite is true when you operate in a playing golf mode on the course. It then becomes key to switch the side of the brain you utilise and operate in a right side of the brain mode. I.e not thinking about what your body is doing, not thinking technically about body movement. Once you get on the golf course you have to hope that any practised skill is becoming in grained/learned. This obviously takes time and is the main reason people jump around looking for quick fixes or band aids as many like to call them.
Many simply don't understand the time factor required to efficiently learn a new skill to its conclusion. Ie once you can do it without thinking about it. I strongly suggest when you play golf that you play with the right side brain and go out there visualising what you hope the ball is going to do rather than what you are going to do over a shot.
I can guarantee more success if you operate like this in the future with any golfing time you may have. The greatest golfer of them all, Jack Nicklaus, once said "my most powerful tool was my ability to use visualisation on the course." Powerful stuff indeed from a great.
This season we resume our very popular 'trade in' your old lead acid battery for a New Lithium Battery offer with the lite power lithium and Motocaddy Lithium batteries effectively being reduced to £174.99 from £199.99.
This is a great time to go light and go Lithium.
With the added benefit of a five year warranty we highly recommend these batteries for any make and model of trolley.
