The coming weeks and months ahead With more rain this month than any other so far this year the course has suffered a bit unfortunately with a bit of wear and tear. Hopefully it will ease off soon as our contractors KimberGlen, arrive next week from the 2nd of November to resume the bunker project. They actually prefer slightly frosty weather to work in, to help keep the ground firm underfoot. We certainly can’t control the weather unfortunately, however, it will be great to see the bunker project finished off this winter. It will all be completed (18 holes) in around 14/15 months which is amazing really. My own personal view is the course has and will be hugely enhanced making Ladybank one of the premier venues in Scotland/UK again to play golf. Our green staff will have a huge amount of work on again this winter with our usual winter maintenance schedule and several thousand sq. feet of turf to transplant among other jobs to do. Clearly there will be some upheaval during this process for our golfers in the next few months into the spring/summer as we finish off the grow in period. However, I’m sure most, if not all of you will agree it will most definitely be worth it. We are one of the few courses investing in our product currently and no doubt as we come out of this awful pandemic we will be in a much much stronger position as a result. Often investing during adversity and hard times is the best route to success for many businesses and I have no doubt that this will be the same for ours as we elevate Ladybank Golf Club to a new level. It goes without saying we very much appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we complete these works in what is a very short timeframe really. We certainly could not have completed this project without our loyal members support, thats for sure. Hopefully it will be you now who benefit in the years ahead as the course and club goes from strength to strength. Sandy Smith Head Professional |
