We are currently on the greenside bunker on eleven and hope to have that completed this week. That will mean that we are a third of the way through the whole 18 hole project as far as construction is concerned. I make it that we will have fully constructed 17 bunkers and surrounds in 25 days.

This week sees our first stint at a bit of PR. We are hoping that the election goes off without too much drama and that we get good coverage in the local and national press as well as the golf press both online and in the written media. We really encourage all our members to share all the social media activity that will no doubt be pretty busy on Friday and over the weekend. We are hoping you can help us in promoting the club on a wider scale.

STV will be visiting the club on Friday to interview Paul and Colin with regards the project as a whole and what it will bring to our great course. Fingers crossed Boris, Nicola and Jeremy etc. don`t upset the apple cart!

Hole in one alert!

Lew Hendry pictured shortly after his excellent hole in one during the December Medal, where an 8 iron was the club of choice at the 10th hole.

I hope Hugo Boss are paying out watches on the temporary green `hole in ones` or should we keep that to ourselves..!

Sometimes, the difference between a scratch golfer and a 9-handicapper can be quite small, such as how far they hit the ball. However, there is certainly one part of the game that can be hugely different and it’s the area where your score is either made or lost.

Why the gap?

It's brilliant to see more club golfers getting fitted for new clubs now than ever before, and long may that continue!

But why would you not get fitted for your wedges?

With modern lofts on irons being stronger than ever (one of the reasons today's irons go further than a decade ago), golfers are often left with huge gaps between clubs at the bottom of their bag.
