Solheim Cup
What an amazing Solheim Cup it turned out to be. The victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat on an amazing Sunday at Gleneagles who again ensured they put on a fantastic spectacle. Suzann Pettersen, one of the very best ball strikers in the ladies game sealed a great end to a terrific career with a seriously pressurised putt in dramatic circumstances. Many of our junior golfers and their parents made it up to the event which was great. I hope they all had an amazing time.
|
The only tinge of sadness about the event for me was the length of time it took them to play. 6 hours plus on Saturday for a four-ball! As one of our members said to me on Saturday morning past, “the world is moving quicker and quicker as golf moves slower and slower.” This has got to be a serious concern for us all and hopefully someone comes up with a solution soon.
Anyhow the dramatic finish seems to have swept that all under the carpet for another day. Well done to Catriona Matthew and the team on a great win.

Seniors Match
Ladybank Seniors played the inaugural match against Royal Burgess Golfing Society in Edinburgh on Thursday 12th September. We played for the Fraser McCluskey Trophy presented by Ladybank's former secretary (and RBGS member) who was on hand the present the trophy after the match. Club members may be interested to know that Fraser, unfortunately, suffered a major stroke almost a year ago which seriously impacted his health. He is recovering, up to this point managing a few holes of golf. He hopes to be able to play a full round very soon.
The match was played over the RGBS course which was in beautiful condition with excellent greens which were very quick and true despite the recent rain. The match resulted in a 5-3 victory for Ladybank and we will take pleasure in displaying the magnificent trophy pictured here.

The presentation picture shows Seniors Captain Eddie Devlin receiving the trophy from Fraser McCluskey with RBGS Captain for the day Michael Gray looking on.
We look forward to welcoming RBGS here in 2020 for the return fixture.

Fife County Ladies Golf Association Meet new friends, have some fun and play different local Fife courses, see below for all the details: |
Goodbye Laces. Hello Boa Technology in today's golf equipment continues to amaze us year-on-year, but it's not just our clubs that are making strides in the tech department. Believe it or not, golf shoes are some of the most advanced products in the market thanks to the evolution of the Boa Fit System, which is replacing traditional laces. Not only does it fasten your shoe, but when the Boa dial is on the heel of your shoe, it pulls your foot back and down to provide the perfect fit for extreme comfort and stability out on the course. |

It's great walking to the first tee with a new driver in hand (that's been custom fitted to suit your swing, of course) that you know will help you outdrive your playing partners, but sometimes it can be a simple change to the ball that you're using that has the biggest effect on your game. |
