What a difference a week makes! This time last week I was driving to work in temperatures around 16/17 degrees and very high humidity levels. Today I drive in and it’s 6 degrees and the humidity has dropped away. As a result, the seriously strong growth we had on the course has dissipated as a consequence. The result? Much quicker greens with the same cutting heights and maintenance procedures. The greens today (Wednesday) are running at 10 on the stimp slightly higher than we should have at this time of year but again simply due to the weather conditions. The feedback has been great with our friend Victor Perez from the ET commenting today that they were ‘excellent’ after an early morning game of 300 plus yards drives, crisp iron shots and no doubt a few putts holed. The one thing that is a bit disappointing that I noted during a playing lesson with one of our members yesterday, was the pitch marks not being repaired and also the poorly repaired pitch marks. Repairing them poorly is every bit as bad as leads to the grass dying off too. Please see Mike’s video on how to repair your Pitch Marks well. |
