What A Difference A Year Makes What a difference a year makes! This time last year we were baking in temperatures of 30+ degrees. This eventually damaged our course with burn out that we are still trying to recover from in certain areas. We hadn’t seen rain for what felt like months. Giving us unbelievably firm and very fast putting surfaces running consistently at around 9.6-9.9 on the stimp and close to Open Championship optimum range of 10.5 on the stimp meter. Our optimum range for daily/weekly play is 8.6-9.6 on the stimp. Ref our course policy document: Greens section - 8.2 Click here for the course policy. This year we have seen lower more seasonably average temperatures but rainfall that is off the charts in comparison to last year at 52 mm June to 8th August 2018 vs 174 mm this year from June through to 8th August 2019. The result has been incredibly good grass growing conditions. With a result slightly slower green speeds than we would like as golfers but well within our optimum range and usually towards the mid/top end. Some days however given the humidity levels/heavier rainfall nights and early mornings, has given poorer morning cuts making the green speeds towards the lower/mid end of our range although not often. We really appreciate your patience with this lack of ‘consistently’ quick greens and fingers crossed this very odd weather pattern decides to disappear soon. Check out Adams video from yesterday! |
