With the club prize giving only a week or so away, the main golfing season is drawing to a close. However, from speaking to some of the guys involved in the winter league it appears there is still plenty of enthusiasm kicking around for golf. That said we could still do with a bigger squad for our scratch league team. Dr Bobby Robertson would be delighted to hear from any of you who are interested.

I myself am trying to get going again in the winter Midland alliances. A recent second place finish at Ladybank in the Alliance has boosted the enthusiasm to get the clubs out a bit more over the winter. Albeit a (+3) 74 doesn't sound very good, I actually played pretty well and left quite a few shots out there. Thanks to John Gray and Danny Cuthbert for their company on what was a great day for golf if a little windy.

More success for Susan

Susan won the East of Scotland Championship on the 5th October at Falkirk Tryst. Fife County also won the team event, and both Susan and Lorna Bennett were in the team. Susan also won the Fife County, Ann Smith Quaich at Crail (Craigend) on the 14th October with 36 pts.

Ryan: "When comparing this to my 910 D3 driver, I could see a huge difference straight away. It was a lot lighter in the head than my 910 model and the overall look of the face on the driver was more appealing. The Active Recoil Channel (ACT) on the underside of the club is able to help generate a longer and straighter flight on the ball even on off centre hits. This is through Titleist using the ACT technology to move the centre of gravity forward in the head whilst coupled with a lighter titanium crown in order to help produce a consistently straigther ball flight. From testing this against my old driver, there is no comparison, the 915 is the real deal!" 

Jake: "When I first picked up the 915 I was very excited about it. Having previously had a 910 D3 and tested the 913 a few times, I felt this new model had a lot to live up to as the previous models were so good. Having not tested it on Flightscope it is tough to be exact, however the ball flight it produced was High launch, low spin, resulting in no shortage of distance. It also moved about in the air easily too when trying to hit different shot shapes with it. Comparing it also to my current Nike Covert 2.0 driver, the distance gain was on average 10 yards. The ACT will also help produce faster ball speeds on off centre hits, helping maintain consistency with control and distance. It will take a huge effort from any of the other manufacturers to beat this new driver!"
