Beast from the East

With many members of the club competing in the annual Ladybank sledging competition in the midst of the 'Beast from the East'. Winner to be confirmed soon!!!!?

It was very kind of Brian McSkimming Club Captain, to remind us of what we are missing out on at the moment. Brian is away on a golfing trip and has kindly sent in this image after a round of golf in the baking heat of around quote "only 31 degrees today" from a sunny Thailand.

I'm sure many members may be keen to give you a little stick when you return. Have a great time Brian and enjoy the golf.

Handicap Winter League

Ladybank 2 Crail 2

The handicap winter league team played on Sunday 25th February at Ladybank against Crail in the final round of league fixtures. The team recorded a draw. The results were -

Lost 6&5
2 - Fergus Johnstone & Gordon Wilson
Won 6&4
3-J D Grant & Gary Walsh
Lost 3&2
4-Duncan Glass & Paul Ness
Won 2&1

The draw meant Ladybank finished in 2nd position in the league table. A very good defence of the title we won last year. Thanks to all the team members who played over the winter months.

The team have a semi-final in the knockout cup at Charleton to play on Sunday 4th March.

Change is coming

Golf is a game that we all love. It’s one that produces an array of emotions within us, from sheer delight to utter despair - usually one shot to the next! That being said, it doesn’t mean that golf is perfect, which is why change is on the horizon.

We’ve spoken a lot in our weekly newsletters about the Rules Modernisation initiative by the R&A that will come into play in 2019. Well, in addition to this, golf’s governing body has announced that there will be a new World Handicapping System from 2020, designed to create a more ‘consistent measure of playing ability’. It will include changes such as a maximum handicap of 54, social rounds counting towards your handicap, and an average-based handicap that takes into account your best 8 scores from the previous 20 rounds.
