The PGA at The Belfry

This week I’ve been avoiding the poor weather with a trip to The Belfry. A good trip was had doing some tutoring for the PGA on the 1st year Diploma programme for our Assistant Professionals from far and wide. It was great to see the motivation, curiosity and work ethic of the students. Golf clubs and the PGA are certainly in good shape going forward if these students are anything to go by.

It was also very interesting for me to find out more about golf at the top level as I had a former British Amateur Champion and a European Tour player in my classes!

Class complete

Adam of course completed his 1st year Diploma course last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I’m sure he would be happy to share with you some of the things he learned when he see’s you next.

Members indoor putting event

On Friday, 26 January with sessions on from 5pm-6pm & 6.30pm-7.30pm sees our annual indoor 'Improve Your Putting' event.

Sandy will host and pass out some simple tips to help you improve your putting technique. So if your looking to improve this area of your game in 2018 then sign up now in the pro shop or click here to get involved.

The sessions have a cost of £10 per person and there will be a maximum of 6 people per session.

Clubhouse works update

Work continues at a great pace inside the club house and the office is now fully up and running. The showers and toilets don't look like they will be too much longer.

February grip promotion

Get at least 9 clubs regripped and get 20% OFF the regripping costs. This is one of our annual offers to members and provides you with a great opportunity to get your clubs regripped at a great price.

Your grips should be changed annually as the wear and tear causes you to have to hold the club more tightly when they get worn. By holding the club more tightly it makes it very difficult to hit the ball correctly and can cause a lot of thinned or topped shots. It also makes life more difficult when trying to square up the club face and can cause shots that fly off to the right also.

New Club 1 Ladybank 3

The handicap winter league team travelled to St Andrews on Sunday 21st January to play in a rearranged league match against The New Club on the New Course.

In tricky firm underfoot conditions due to frost, the team recorded a great 3-1win. The results were;

Game 1 - Steve Hutcheon & Craig Mathie - Won 1up
Game 2 - J D Grant & Brian McSkimming - Won 5&4
Game 3 - Fergus Johnstone & Paul Ness - Won 3&2
Game 4 - Duncan Glass & Mike Ness - Lost 1 down

The shot of the day went to Craig Mathie. Playing the 18th hole he hit his second shot to 1one foot for a birdie and won game one 1up.

Thanks to all that played. The team's next match is on Sunday 28th January at Ladybank against Lundin Links in a league match starting at 10.30am.
