Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly newsletter. This week's email has an exclusive interview with World Long Drive champion Joe Miller as he looks to defend the crown he won in 2016, as well as a couple of news stories from last week that certainly shine a bright light over the sport we love. It’s official: golf is good for you

There's been a lot of focus on Public Health England’s One You campaign in the media over the past week, which challenges each person to complete just 10 minutes of continuous brisk walking per day to help boost their health and reduce the risk of early death by 15%.

At the same time, a unique study assessing the benefits of golf on health was announced that, when combined with the above campaign, makes interesting reading. The project – the most comprehensive study on golf and health to date – found improvements in life expectancy, a decreased risk of more than 40 major chronic diseases, as well as positive impacts on cholesterol, body composition and mental health.

So, what's the take home message from all of this? Keep playing golf!

Ladies pink report

The last week has been very colourful out on the golf course. Our ladies pink day attracted lots of pink and silver which even managed to brightened up a glorious Saturday in the Ladies Tri Am. It was great to see Nina and a full field of ladies having so much fun and raising money for a great cause. Well done to all concerned.

Last Saturday the ladies turned out in "style" for the annual Captain's Pink day. They played a Tri-Am which was won by the team of Joan Prentice, Christine Wilson & Anne Anderson with a very tidy nett 63. There was also a speed hole test on the 10th hole with the team being timed for all 3 to complete the hole. This was won by the team of Fiona Whitton, Cath Findlay & Lynn Francey in a remarkable time of 2.22 minutes for all 3.

Thanks go to everyone who took part and donated very generously to Breast Cancer Now and to Sandy for donating free buggies on the day.

This week sees the start of a busy two week period as ever at this time of year. It's well worth booking quickly in the next two weeks to get as close as possible to the tee time you are after. If you are looking for food in the Clubhouse for a special occasion or meal, I guess it's also worth booking to give Grant/Lisa and the team some prior warning to ensure they can cater for your needs as you would want.
