Summary and Results

Sandy Thanks to everyone who took part in our annual Pro FUN DAY. Again it was a great turn out from our members who continue to support us in superb numbers. It is very much appreciatted. Thanks also to Gregor, Ryan and Jake who were a great help throughout the day (especially on the 10th!) Thanks must also go to Keith and the bar staff for keeping fed and watered during and after the golf.

Whilst the weather was very poor early on and hampered the early starters the later starters got lucky and even saw the sun! There were some fantastic shots and stories, Gavin Wilson almost drove the 9th green and did drive the 16th green! The Gym work must be paying off! There were some great shots into the 10th hole! MCILROY WINS FLAGSHIP EVENT

Rory McIlroy came from seven shots behind to claim a remarkable victory in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club.

McIlroy carded a closing 66 to win The European Tour's flagship event for the first time following a rollercoaster final day.

The Northern Irishman only took the outright lead for the first time with a birdie on the 71st hole and made another on the last to finish 14 under par, one ahead of Ireland's Shane Lowry with two-time winner Luke Donald and overnight leader Thomas Björn a shot behind in third.

McIlroy said: "It's been 18 months since I won on The European Tour and to win the flagship event, I could not have asked for any more".

"I knew coming in here I was playing well. I struggled a little on Friday but played great over the weekend. I was a little fortunate that some of the guys ahead of me made mistakes and I took advantage of it".

Fife County Ladies Championship

The qualifying round of the above took place at Elie and Earlsferry Golf Club on Sunday 11th May. The top 16 gross players went through to the match play on Sunday 18th. Ladybank had 6 players in in the match play, unfortunately a number of Ladybank ladies had to play each other

1st round
Linda McDonald bt Kathleen Webster 3/2
Susan Jackson bt Dorothy Ford (Scotscraig) 4/3
Linda Dyball (Pitreavie) bt Dianne Watson on the 19th
Loran Bennett bt Shona McRae on the 19th

2nd round
Lynn Newton (Dunnikier) bt Linda 3/2
Susan bt Linda Dyball 4/3
Lorna bt Irene Morrison (St Regulus) 3/1

Unfortunately Lorna and Susan had to play each other in the semi finals on Sunday and Susan won 3/1. In the afternoon Susan played Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) in the final. Susan was beaten 4/2 by Louise. Both matches were superb to watch and an exhibition of how good golf should be played especially around the greens.

Congratulations and well done to all the ladies that played in the matchplay part of the FCLGA championships.

Why it might be time for a spot of shoe shopping

Last week we talked about power transfer, something you will find uncomfortable if your shoes don't fit correctly. Research suggests a significant number of you aren't playing in the right size shoe which can only have a negative impact on your golf. Then there's the pain...

No more faffing! Choose the right trolley bag

Last week we took a look at some fantastic new lightweight carry bags on the market. For those 36-hole days, however, a trolley bag may be a better option. Be careful though, for trolley bags are like referees - you only notice the bad ones. Thankfully, we have some super options in our shop...
