I'd like to share with you something I've noticed this season whilst fitting the Titleist irons and especially the AP1 iron.
I was fitting this week with an 18 handicap member of the club who hits his own seven iron around 140 yards. After establishing the correct length, lie grip type & size and loft of the AP1 we then went onto shaft selection. The most we could get out of any of our selection of regular steel shafts was around a 5 yard distance gain in the light True Temper XP90 shafts.
With one last chance to impress I went for the ever reliable Kurokage graphite regular. Well you can see the results below. An incredible increase of around 15 yards on his own clubs and a gain of 10 yards on the best steel shaft I could find for him.
It really is well worth getting fitted, we can improve both discrepancy in ball direction and distance. For any help or fitting advice please ask in the Pro Shop.

Head Greenkeepers Blog We have had some beautiful mornings of late with some glorious sunshine eventually burning off the early morning mist. Its not ideal having such damp conditions for mowing, but with a 6am start to prepare the course for the day ahead sometimes we just have to bite the bullet.
Most of the golfers won't see a lot of our maintenance practices unless you play first thing, but there's lot of planning has to go into it for as little disruption as possible.
Perfect example is when we are spraying greens, we require the green to be mown, rolled and hole change before we can start this. Then if the product we are spraying requires washing into the profile we need to irrigate behind. To complete all of these tasks it takes 4 people on average between 4 & 5 hours, but careful planning assures very little interference to play.
This week we host the BIGGA Scottish Championships with 90 Greenkeepers from all over Scotland in attendance. This year is the first time the event has been fully subscribed….. so no pressure on us then!!!

Are you one of them?
This is an excellent opportunity for our members to be professionally fitted for their shoes by FootJoy's national shoe fitting expert. It's well worth remembering that the average distance walked by our members around Ladybank GC is 5.9 miles. Your feet really are very important so help us to help you to look after them.
