Staff retirement

It is with regret that I have to inform members that Mr Fraser McCluskey has intimated his intention to retire as Managing Secretary of Ladybank Golf Club at the end of March 2016.

Fraser has held this position for 12 years and overseen a very succesful period for the club. His experience and knowledge of the golf business and his prudent financial management has been a great asset and he has been a driving force in the continuous improvement of our golf course. He leaves us in a sound financial position, steering the club through a challenging downturn in the golf industry. We have full membership and retain a waiting list. Our clubhouse facilities have been improved and we have an efficient, loyal and well trained staff. The golf course has been his passion and priority and as members, we have benefitted from his vision to see Ladybank recognised as one of the great heathland courses in Britain.

I am the seventh Captain of his tenure and I am sure all would share my appreciation of the support, guidance and advice he has offered during our terms in office. On behalf of the membership, I would like to wish Fraser a long, happy and well deserved retirement.

Wow - What a quick year it's been! With Christmas fast approaching, I'm writing my last newsletter of 2015! I'm sure your inboxes will all be celebrating!

Don't worry though, as we reconvene first week in January. I hope you've all had a great 2015 and managed to achieve your many golfing goals? Unfortunately, golf is an unforgiving game and many of us may not be quite so happy with our own performances. If this is the case then please remember that your professional staff are here to help your enjoyment of this great game. 

Nothing improves our job satisfaction than when we get a happy customer telling us of a great score or shot that we have assisted with in the form of coaching or good club fitting or even an improved mental approach on the course. We really are here to help you improve your golf. Please let us know if we can help in 2016. Vouchers are available in the Pro Shop for coaching, new clubs or golfing goods.

We love success stories too, so if you've had any golfing successes please don't be shy and send us information via email. Pictures always help us to celebrate properly too. Our golfing community at Ladybank is very important and its up to us all to ensure it thrives in 2016.  

 

BREAKING NEWS

Ladybank Golf Club has this week been ranked No 2 in Great Britain's Top 100 Courses under £100 (green fee) by National Club Golfer magazine. 

This is an amazing achievement for the Club considering the calibre of courses selected in this section. Ladybank has managed to get ahead of the likes of St Andrews (New), Machrihanish, Blairgowrie Rosemount, Woodhall Spa, Gullane No 1, Princes, West Hill and the list goes on and on. The National Club Golfer magazine is the highest circulating golf magazine in the UK, so understandably everyone at the Club is absolutely delighted to achieve this accolade, which confirms our ranking as one of the best heathland courses in the UK. 

NCG rational behind the Top 100 listing "is to reward quality of course and value for money in equal measure". The "goal was to create a list that bears scrutiny and earns the respect of serious and knowledgeable golfers" There will be more information to follow in the New Year, once we have more detail to share with you.

Members wishing to play on Christmas Day/Boxing Day or New Year's Day/2nd January are reminded to please collect their clubs if required, before the Clubhouse closes on 24 & 31 December at 3.30pm
