Montrose Mercantile Outing - Change of date

This year, Montrose Mercantile are hosting Ladybank Golf Club on the 20th September. This is a change of date. 

Those who have already placed their names on the list for the 13th have been added to the new list. If you cannot make it on 20th, please remove your name. If anyone wishes to play in this event, please add your name on the list as soon as possible. 

The Club will endeavour to arrange transport from Ladybank to Montrose and return, so please annotate if you require transport.  




Please accept the notes in the spirit that they are intended. The message has gone out to all players and is meant to help everyone. If you recognise yourself or any of your playing partners, simply try to address the matter, please do not take offence. 

1) Don't mark your card when it is your turn on the tee, mark it when someone else is playing. 
2) Don't engage in story telling when it is your turn to play. 
3) Be ready with golf club in hand when it is your turn to play. 
4) At the green take your bag to the exit point nearest to the next tee. 
5) The 1st player to putt out should claim the flagstick and replace it as soon as play is complete. 
6) Always try to keep up with the group in front and be aware of the group behind. If there is no one ahead, still check on the group behind and wave them through at the first opportunity if they are faster. (You'll know if they are faster as they will have their arms folded or have hands on hips!) 
7) Please, please, please let the group behind you play through if you have lost your place on the course, and definitely if you have lost a complete hole. There are many 4-balls refusing to let faster groups play through, please do not be one of the 4-ball

Fife men's team

A big congratulations to the Fife Golf men's team who won the Midland Team Championships on Sunday at Strathmore GC. Their total of 497 (best 7 from 8) was 17 shots too good for Perth & Kinross with Angus and Clackmannan further back. 

It was great to see three of our members in the team. Congrats too Ryan Walsh, Ally Hain and Connor Syme. The full team was:

Our new Autumn / Winter FootJoy apparel range has arrived in the shop. We have decided to stock both the Hydrolite and XP jackets. 

The XP is FJ's premium waterproof jacket which is double layered providing extra warmth for those who play in the winter. We have also decided to stock FJ's Hydrolite jacket which is a single layered waterproof jacket. 

  

The Hydrolite may not be quite as warm as the XP jacket but it offers great playability as it's a little lighter than the XP jacket. The Hydrolite Jackets come in at £120 (full-zip) and £115 (half-zip) respectively. The XP Jackets come in at £159 (full-zip) and £149 (half-zip) respectively.
