I hope you all enjoyed a splendid Ryder Cup from Gleneagles!
It was great to see the team getting a break with the weather. This certainly enhanced a truly magical spectacle and a memorable event.
Having managed to get up on the Friday myself I was a little surprised by the quality of the golf. I saw Sergio snap hook it out of bounds about 180 yards off the fifth tee. Rory then followed with a provisional into the bushes up the right. Martin Kaymer duffed what look like an easy chip shot. Webb Simpson topped it off the first and then to top it off we were almost killed by Stephen Gallacher hitting from the fifth tee as we stood beside the sixth.
It certainly goes to show they are human after all. I guess the TV doesn't like showing bad shots!!! It should certainly encourage us that with a little more effort and practice, there is hope for us all.
With the Dunhill Links Championship just along the road this week, I would certainly encourage as many of you as possible to go along and see how it's done. We can all learn something from these great players, especially when you get up close.
Lorna Bennett won the Scottish Veteran Ladies' Championship on Sunday at the Strathmore Golf Centre at Alyth.. Lorna beat Highland Champion Mary Smith from Tain at the 19th Hole in what was described as a very exciting final.
Well done to Lorna. This is the 3rd time she has won this championship.

Looking for a GPS system to help lower your scores?
Most amateur golfers tend to come up short on many approach shots to greens, this can be down to in-decision or poor knowledge of how far each club carries. Utilising a GPS system will then provide you with Front/Middle/Back yardages on all holes as you play, allowing you to gauge how far each club carries. This will then allow you to consistently choose the correct club for your confronted yardage, reducing the chances of coming up short in a hazard etc.
And finally we have the perfect solution at a great price:
