Fitting news

New Callaway coming soon

Last week also saw our second demo day in two consecutive weeks with Callaway visiting. The Rogue driver was a big favourite along with the all new XR Speed driver and fairway woods. The new XR speed family launches on the 8th of May and the driver is a respectable £299 and Fairways £199.

What is the right amount of time to spend over the ball?

Are you too slow and getting stuck in thoughts or are you too quick and in a rush to get the shot over with?

There is definitely an optimum time to spend in your pre shot routine and over the ball.

Big Johnson Golf Tour

Last week saw the Big Johnson Golf Tour visit Ladybank GC. John Henry the organiser was full some in his praise on social media and also in an email to the club.

The players really enjoyed the course as always. None more so than Ryan Campbell who shot a fantastic 64 off the green Championship tees. Quite a round of golf to some tough pins on the day. Only our preferred lies local rule preventing a new course record.

Well done to Ryan.

Member Practice Information

Just a small reminder to all new and existing members regarding the practice guidelines at the club. The top practice area (7th/3rd holes) is our established practice area.

Please ensure that any practice is conducted away from tees and greens of our junior course (outlined with white paint), as we like to keep it in good order for the kids golf on Sunday's and Monday's when applicable in the junior fixture list.

The area outside the shop is simply a warm up area around 30 mins pre golf on the course. The right hand/wood side of this area is for the Professional staff and golf coaching sessions during shop hours.

Ladybank host the Titleist & FootJoy Club Professional Championships Qualifying

Yesterday saw Ladybank host the Titleist & FootJoy Club Professional Championships Qualifying for the Scottish region.

Scoring in the main was tough due to the wind. However that didn’t deter one of Sandy’s long time pupils, Keir McNicol from Carnoustie winning the qualifying with a scratch 70. Well done to Keir.

The Professionals were full of praise on the condition of the course with Ian Taylor from Drumpellier GC and tournament referee taking to twitter with the following:

Junior news

Course work...

On behalf of the Junior section, I would like to pass on a big thank you to David Gray our Head Greenkeeper for his efforts on the 'wee course' and on the 'Championship Course'!

He has installed us a new footgolf hole, replaced the flags and marked out teeing areas on the wee course, installed fixed tee positions on the 'championship course and general maintenance around the tee markers. I think you would all agree it looks fantastic!

Divoting work will be carried out in due course around the teeing areas.

Urethane cover? So what...

A common phrase we hear here in the shop is: “It’s round and white, it can’t be that different”. The truth is that every single golf ball is unique in some way – whether it’s the ball’s core, layers or dimple pattern – but there is one thing that all premium balls have in common…

Try Urethane with the Chrome Soft
Like all tour-level golf balls, the Callaway Chrome Soft boasts a Urethane cover, which sets the bar for cover materials.

Urethane – a soft and flexible polymer – will give you the highest possible spin rates combined with the best feel; benefits you will really notice when hitting chip and pitch shots.

However, if you like to play lower flighted chip-and-runs you might prefer other options in Callaway’s range that are made with Tri-onomer covers. While this type of cover doesn’t generate as much spin, it is slightly more durable and offers a cheaper alternative.

As you can see on these 50-yard pitch shots, the extra spin from the Urethane cover ball on the right helps it to stop much quicker than the Ionomer cover ball on the left, which rolls out on landing.
