Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.

Bunkers
Having been out to see the remodelling work of the fairway bunkers on holes two and five this last couple of weeks, I can only speak very highly of the work done by our green keeping team. It's an incredibly difficult job to get these areas right for a number of reasons. As golfers, we all have a view as to whether they suit our eye, our golfing ability or the surroundings of the course. This makes it even more difficult for our team dealing with a great range of opinions as the above are very personal to us all.
My own personal view is they are now incredibly good and a real feather in the cap of our staff. If we were to bring in contractors to do this job along with a course designer to plan and oversee the project, it would cost into the tens of thousands to do what we have done at a fraction of that price. All the hard work done by the team ultimately, is about your satisfaction and enjoyment as members. We really do hope you enjoy and like what you see.
See below some bunkers from heathland gems like Sunningdale, West Hill and The Berkshire. These courses are often put up there as the benchmark for heathland golf in the U.K and if we keep striving to improve and deliver as good a product on course as these facilities, we will all be improving the legacy of Ladybank Golf Club.
Amateur pictures taken on my iPhone, of hole 5 bunkering, not quite finished off as the team continue to work on the re-turfing around the edges and the base layers.
