It was great to see Martin Kaymer winning The Players Championship at the weekend. Our Ryder Cup hero proved that without question he still has what it takes to win the big events.
The $1,800,000 winners cheque also greatly enhanced if not confirmed his chances of making the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in September. Martin put all of his success at the Players down to a stronger work ethic of late. Click here for some interesting insight.
This for sure is something we can all learn when it comes to golf. For sure there is no magic cure to improving. Hard work and a good coach is what it takes to win the big cheques or simply to get the handicap down.

Catering Update
Our new cater Keith Cowie continues to get excellent reviews from within the club membership and visitors alike. After a very positive start at Ladybank, Keith is considering opening on a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday and Saturday evenings during the summer months.
This would appear to be great news for all our members and an additional club service that will benefit everyone hopefully. If you are keen to utilise this service and support Keith during the evenings then please click here. This straw poll may only add further encouragement to Keith, potentially increasing his opening hours.
SGU / SLGA Amalgamation
Last week Alison and Fiona attended the SLGA roadshow presentation on the proposed amalgamation of the SLGA and the SGU. The session was led by Lorna Bennett who has a great deal of knowledge of the issue having been involved in the process from the outset three years ago. Lorna gave a detailed account of the revised proposals and then answered any queries raised.
The SGU road shows for men's representatives will take place later in May and in June.
Should this amalgamation be voted in later in the year, it will change the organisation of the amateur game radically. Since we will have the opportunity to give our views to the steering group and to those who will vote on our behalf, anyone who wishes can view the full details of the proposals on the SGU and SLGA websites. If you have any questions you can ask those of us who attended the road shows; in the likely event that we do not have the answer we are very fortunate that we can seek clarification from Lorna who also happens to be a Ladybank member.
