Use of White tees for general play
Please note that Green sub-Committee has again approved that the use of White tees will be allowed for general play on application to the Professional or Managing Secretary and at the Professional's discretion.
This will apply to Members and Visitors from 1 April 2016. Application may be made on the day of play or in advance. The situation will continue to be monitored to ensure that pace of play or the condition of the tees is not adversely affected. This will not apply to the use of Green tees which are too small for general play and would almost certainly adversely affect pace of play.
The Committee noted that this must be controlled within specific handicap bands with due regard to pace of play and with the Professional policing this at his discretion.

Head Greenkeepers Blog - Wednesday, 23 March 2016
Spring is officially here and for a change it actually feels like it could well be. The recent dry, mild conditions are a very welcome break from what was a continuous wet spell since November. This milder weather has provided a perfect window to apply our spring fertiliser which has kicked in very quickly and given us great grass coverage on all surfaces. Timing is key for this application as the nitrogen source can be readily available to the plant if temperature is warm enough to encourage an uptake… this is rarely the case in March!!
Now that the plant is stronger and we are seeing some growth it gives us an opportunity to do some important renovation to greens. Verti-draining will commence shortly, but with a very small 8mm tine which is essential to relieve any deep compaction and will disappear quickly. Perhaps the most important task at this time of the year is the top dressing which is underway and will continue every 10-14 days with the little and often approach preferred.
This will help dilute any build up of organic matter following the wet spell and also help improve firmness, trueness and smoothness during a difficult period of uneven growth patterns. For as little disruption as possible we utilise our irrigation early in the morning to wash the sand off the leaf and force it into the sward canopy.
After some research, this week we took delivery of heather plants from a local nursery which we started planting on some of the mounds on our new bunkers. Creating a natural heathland bunker is our aim and these will ultimately take time to develop, but it will completely transform our current bunkers into authentic attractive features.
Following recent concern from some Members regarding the difficult carry from the 18th tee, it has been agreed to reinstate the small tee within the quarry. This will not have tee markers and will be for bounce games only, but we hope it can make play more enjoyable for those that wish to use it. The heather mounding in question to the left of the path in the landing area will be reviewed in the autumn.
